<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>123</id><JournalTitle>EVALUATION OF SURGICAL PROPHYLACTIC ANTIBIOTIC IN ORTHOPAEDIC DEPARTMENT BY CLINICAL PHARMACIST</JournalTitle><Abstract>Objective: The main objective of this study is to evaluate the use of surgical prophylactic antibiotics in orthopaedic department according to WHO guidelines. Study design: An observational and prospective study was conducted in 200 patients of orthopaedic department for a period of 6 months. Basic demographic data, laboratory investigations and details of prophylactic antibiotics being prescribed were collected from the patientâ€™s case sheets. A descriptive analysis was carried out on the data collected. Result: Out of 200 cases, 69.5% of the pre-operative antibiotics prescribed were according to the WHO guidelines. Conclusion: A significant proportion of prescriptions followed the WHO guidelines, but still there is a need to emphasize more on the antibiotic prescribing patterns to prevent antibiotic resistance.</Abstract><Email>praveen.pharmd16@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>9</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2019</year><keyword>Prophylaxis, Antibiotics, Orthopaedic surgery.</keyword><AUTHORS>M.
